*wipes off dust*

TIME FLIES.

That's one of my most used phrases.

So much going on in life... Silent retreat is much needed. I am still learning to withdraw and just have some quiet time, alone with God. Counting my blessings, thankful for everything - the good and bad.

*****************************************
Short chat that eventually took hours.
With silent moments, pondering, laughing, reminiscing and all in between.
#friendshiplikethis

No, this doesn't happen often, everyone is busy, so am I, but it was much needed.
It was a conversation with a dear friend in Christ. We could remember the last time we really talked, (which was a semester ago), where we were, what we talked about, and this conversation was almost a continuation of it. We said we'll check on each other but, well, ok, at least we properly did that now LOL. We've grown so much and at this season of life, we're facing different circumstances. I was comfortable with us not trying to act like we know the right words to say hence the silence, but it was genuine to me. IDK how to put it into words but yea... that was that.

I was assured that it is OK when things don't turn out the way I hope to, that it is OK for me to feel a certain way towards certain things. I needed honesty. I had the memory of an old friend LOL. and, I needed to care for a friend too.

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

God is an expert at bringing good out of bad in our lives. And yes, before I graduate, we better have that promised meal!

********************************************

There are many friendships that I am thankful for too, everyday simple meals together, classes together, simple chats, texts etc. :)

God bless you ♥

Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud

Just want to share a beautiful song + beautiful music video. Love how the both of them danced to the music. #onrepeat

Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud

When your legs don't work like they used to before
And I can't sweep you off of your feet
Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love?
Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?

And, darling, I will be loving you 'til we're 70
And, baby, my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Well, me—I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am

So honey now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are

When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades
And the crowds don't remember my name
When my hands don't play the strings the same way
I know you will still love me the same

'Cause honey your soul could never grow old, it's evergreen
And, baby, your smile's forever in my mind and memory
I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe it's all part of a plan
Well, I'll just keep on making the same mistakes
Hoping that you'll understand

But, baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
Thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are

So, baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Oh, darling, place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are
Oh, baby, we found love right where we are
And we found love right where we are

Year 3 begins...

Sem started. Yeap. Week 3 just ended. Although this pic is showing you my chill.recovering.from.flu face, life is indeed packed with activities. When it's not all chaotic, it's time to get some good rest LOL. God is faithful nevertheless. Glad to meet the freshies, I go like "I'M A SENIOR?!" inside of me LOL. Of course, happy to see old faces ^_^

kimzhiyi

Short post to say that I'm still fine though situations aren't all smooth, suffering is part of the Christian walk, (but I don't mean please go make yourself suffer-lah LOL, what I meant is that when suffering comes, the grace of God comes along and I can endure suffering by His grace :)), learning everyday to be who I am made to be, which includes learning from mistakes and other's past experiences, counting my blessings too. God bless you! ♥

What Color Works for you?

So... it's still semester break for me HAHA. Quite a chill one before I go on 2 more trips(?). Cleared my place, gave away things esp clothes, recycled papers, magazines, old books and notes.. took me hours to do so. Yet to sort out some stuff I brought back from hostel LOL. what an unorganized person am I huh? well, at least I know I don't need anymore clothing in the meantime until I figure out what I actually don't have or not have enough. I'm not fashionably in trend, I just put on proper clothes and I'm good to go LOL. Oh and beauty products, I don't need that many either :) Being a minimalist I guess, heard of it? ;)

Found Mimi's video on "what colors work for you?" rather helpful. Check it out :)

I think I'm a Fall. What season are you in? :) Happy discovering!

Ipoh trip with the Gad fam

2nd Gad fam trip, yays! Kor Raee and Evangelin are our Ipoh hosts. I decided to travel by train, thanks to Klin's advice :) and again, my parents gave me the permission to go ahead even if I have to travel alone. (when I bought my ticket, nobody else responded if they are going with me from KL/Selangor). Anyways, I met up with Papa Ben and Kor Soon Sin in Kl sentral, they got their tickets on the spot. Here's just a glimpse of the trip :)

Meet the fam :D From top left (clockwise): Soon Sin, Shaun, Sarah, Papa Ben, Evan, Yan, Raee, Elucia, Me and Mama Rachel. God provides, we had 2 cars that fit us all in :)

While waiting for the rest to arrive Ipoh, Raee brought us here, somewhere on the way to Cameron Highlands to drink water. No comment but Soon Sin liked it LOL.

We hung out at Buku Tiga Lima cafe for tea break and had a walk. Missing Hopscotch spotted around that area.

Quote. Near Plan b.

We "checked in" at Evan's grandma's place and played Heads up charades! Yeap, thank God also for accommodation. Lovely place. The fam took turns using 1 washroom without complaints :)

Evan's parents invited us over for dinner. Yummy home cooked Indian cuisine! *drools*

Using Jie Sarah's new cam ^_^ Thanks Auntie and Uncle (not in the pic) for having us. We had our tummies filled with yummies and had a wonderful fellowship :)

Night walk at Kinta Riverfront.

Day 2: Apom and teh tarik for breakfast

Congrats to Jie Sarah for she is now officially Dr Low! :)
Congrats to Raee, he was selected to join TFM :)

Stopped by Raee's house and soap making stuff spotted. All belongs to his mum btw. I was of course, excited *snapsnap* Soap molds, oils and essential oils.

Lubuk Timah. Waterfall and Hot springs. Quite a nobody.knows.secret place according to Raee. We enjoyed the cool and warm water :)

Nasi Kandar Ayam Merah Ipoh aka Nasi Ganja. I can't take spicy but this was delicious. Maybe I was hungry but I managed to finish it, with the help of iced lime water :)

Happy faces. Actually the traffic light colors, Elucia was wearing Green shorts LOL.

We sent Jie Sarah off to the bus station as she has another gathering. After that, we headed to Ipoh Parade for 3 games of Laser tag. My first time and it was so exciting, and sweaty HAHA.

We had quite a long day. I was tired that I didn't bother to take pic of what we had for dinner and supperS LOL. We went back to the house, washed up and had a long night chat with Yan, ahh, it's been awhile ♥

Day 3: We went our separate ways after breakfast as we have different time of departure.

Evan brought me and Soon Sin around town before our train journey. I was quite full from breakfast but can't resist Tau fu fah! :D

Funny Mountain Soya Bean shop. RM 1 ONLY! I want more if I wasn't that full LOL.

Evan dropped me and Soon Sin at the train station and here I managed to meet up with Shi Yun, my floor mate during 1st year. Time flies! The first time we chatted and shared life stories was during MHS aka orientation week, to keep each other awake LOL. We chatted until it was time for me to leave.

Bye Ipoh :) bye fam, till we meet again ♥

Pleasant journey back home. A blessed trip, catching up with one another, some after a year plus of not meeting each other. God is good. The fam celebrates with Sarah and Raee for their new jobs, Papa Ben and Shaun are Christian Fellowship president in their respective campuses, updates here and there from the fam basically. New discoveries too, esp Soon Sin, he was from the same primary school that I attended :O I don't remember meeting him before. We still remember our school anthem LOL. Ahh, I love these ppl who I call fam :)

Thanks for reading. God bless you ♥

Cold Process soap making workshop

I have tried handmade soaps and still use them. I have this weird interest in soaps LOL, of course, am more aware with what ingredient is in the products I use. Watched some Youtube vids on cold process soap but it was definitely not a hands-on experience. When Groupon had a deal, redemption period was during sem break and the fees were reasonable, I decided to sign up ;) Here is where I drove to. Quite a journey but thank God I have Myan. So glad she agreed to join this 2-hour workshop with me. Little Deer Hand Craft Center.

We were requested to prepare 1 litre empty milk carton (cardboard kind, not the plastic ones) and a polystyrene box each. For the polystyrene boxes, both of us didn't want to buy from the centre, which costs RM10 per box. By the day we were to attend the workshop, we found a few big ones (big enough to fit more than 2 milk cartons LOL) and just brought them along anyway.

The instructor

We were taught how to handle sodium hydroxide, briefed on the formula of soap making (sodium hydroxide + water + oil = soap + glycerin) then hands-on soap making! Here's Myan measuring the ingredients.

It was like a fun science experiment. Though I'm not a science stream student, I enjoyed general science back in school and we did an experiment on saponification. Credits to Myan. behold, my concentrating face :P I used peppermint essential oil while Myan used Lemon for extra benefits and to add scent to the soap :) Initially, I chose lavender essential oil without knowing how much it costs. It's almost 3 times more expensive than any of the other essential oils o.o the little accountant in me said go easy for first time soap making, yay ;)

Guess what, the big polystyrene box we brought can be used, it's just to place the milk cartons in, cover with cling wrapper (cuz we lost the cover for the box LOL) (according to YT, a towel will do the job). The soap was left covered in the box for a day. The next night, Myan came over and we cut our soap into less than 100 g per piece.

Then the curing process begins. These will be left for 4-6 weeks, preferably 6 weeks before we can use it. Can't wait for the 14th of September! ;D Jie Rachel will definitely be one of my testers muahaha!

It's been a new and interesting experience for me. I don't know if I'll make soaps again but I'll be purchasing them and supporting this industry. I recommend The Kinder soap company and Claire :) Thanks for reading. God bless you! ♥

Melaka with the Gads

We had our 1st Gad family trip on the 5th-6th of February 2014 :D These are the peeps I spent 20 days with in Cameron Highlands during Camp Cameron/Camp Cam (July 2013) learning and growing together.

With Papa, Mama, Evan, KK, Shaun, Elucia and Raee :D We're to-gad-ther again. (can't stop the Gad thing :P)

Sarah joined us later on. We visited Grandpa, Grandma AND Baby Naiomi ♥
First time meeting and carrying this lovely princess :)

Of course, our lovely hosts, Rachel and Shaun took us around the historical city. *Tourist mode ON*

Lunch: Baba Laksa

Durian Cendol

Tea time: Klebang original coconut shake

Dinner at Wok and Pan restaurant. Yummy and reasonably priced.

Supper at Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup

2nd day's lunch at Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Balls. Dislike the polystyrene plates :/

Taste Better Durian Puffs. Eat in 1 mouthful to avoid "explosion" LOL

Tea break at Nadeje. Mille crepes.

The Melaccans taught us how to it eat the non-mainstream way.

It was good going places with the fam, chilling and sharing life. God took care of everything: Lovely hosts, Safe journey, Transport to and fro and around Melaka (8 of us in Shaun's Innova wohoo~), accommodation (thanks to KK's dad).

Bonding over King of Opera after a long day out.

Super throwback post I know. It was a new travel experience for me, first time taking the bus to Melaka alone, yay to me, and to my parents for letting me do so. I feel a bit grown up now LOL. Tomorrow, I'll be making my way up to Ipoh for our 2nd Gad family trip. Can't wait to meet the fam again, esp those that I haven't seen for a year plus!

God bless you! ♥

Choir performance! (Malaysia-China Choral Exchange Concert)

This is my 4th time in 4 semesters joining classical choir as my ensemble subject. Yes, I love singing in the choir :) Especially from the starting of 3rd semester when Ms. Susanna Saw became the choir instructor of the choir, many interesting events came along, like Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod Tertiary Symposium
Me and Wei Tang

Next, we had the chance to perform in Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, KLCC at the Malaysia-China Choral Exchange Concert on June 23! Click to view article from The Star Online :) Celebrating ties through song

Before the performance
Amazing experience to sing in such a hall. Good acoustics. We were the first choir group to perform then for the rest of the concert, we were assigned to sit at the Circle area (which is a level higher from the stage's level) which has one of the BEST views to watch the other choir groups' performance. For other concerts, it will cost a lot more for the seats in the Circle area compared to the Stalls (the stage's level). Great show by all the performers :)

These ever-supportive peeps came to watch the concert, cheering from the first row!
*Werny, Kit and Sam are also choir singers from 8th residential college :)
Werny, Yu Hong, Kit, Grace and Sam.

There are better seats than the first row but the tickets for the concert were selling SO fast, especially the cheaper category. Thank God there were still seats available in that category when I went to purchase the tickets. :)
**Tip when buying concert tickets in DFP: Sitting slightly further away from the stage = better view and sound. Happy to have them here. Didn't get to take a pic after the concert as they have to take the LRT back and I had some post-concert stuff to handle.
:D

♥ Course mate, hostel mate, choir mate ♥

I've learned so much from joining the choir. Above all, I thank God for all the opportunities. Okay, maybe no more choir for next semester's ensemble. Time to learn other ensembles like Gamelan, Contemporary choir etc. Will probably take choir as a non-registered course. Choir love ^_^
FYI: The UM choir group consists of Music Majors and Non-music majors. Ms. Susanna said she needs more guys in the choir next semester. So if you're a UM student, love to sing in choir, do join us. Our class is usually on Monday 5pm-7pm (if there isn't any changes next semester)

Getting fit!?

It's semester break for me til the 2nd week of September. Unemployed. *JENGJENG* Not that I don't want to work but there's just none suitable for my schedule. Sunday mornings for church, some days in July and August for family and meeting friends in another part of the country. That means, chances are almost none that I find an actual holiday job LOL. Anyway, I am enjoying my time at home doing simple chores, cleaning and tidying my cluttered space, practice music, reading... oh and working out haha! Tried this yesterday and today: '5 minute Ab Express Workout' by blogilates aka Cassey Ho. Have a look at the routine :)

Simple moves huh? BUT I had to pause and continue again cuz my abs are aching! LOL. . Almost didn't have any proper exercise during my 4th semester in uni. I'm not a gym person, so working out at home is a good alternative for me. Plus, Cassey is such an encouraging personal trainer. I like the stretching videos, which I do on a more regular basis. Check them out if you're interested :)

My thoughts on "Why I Don't Use Drugstore Makeup" by PirouetteMakeup

Watched this video just last week and it made me think a bit more on makeup products that I use. I'm not a fan of makeup, I have some makeup products that I only put on for my performances or special occasions.

Why avoid drugstore makeup?
1. Some are tested on animals.
There's this ape named Koba in the movie "The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" that was in the lab for 4 years being tested by humans. I know that's all in the movie but why does it have to be tested on animals when there are alternatives? :( If it can be avoided, I will avoid those products.

2. Harsh chemicals.
Yea, I can't imagine ingesting that much of lipstick :O The current lip balm that I'm using is Shea Butter Lip Balm with Organic Raw Honey and Vitamin E by Claire Organics.  (I'm not paid to "promote" this. Just my personal opinion after using it for some time) It does a good job saving me from dry, cracked lips. It has a nice natural scent and most importantly, I know what's in a lip balm, NOT some chemical that I can't even pronounce. Since it also has a shorter self life (6 months I think), I shall only stick to 1 lip balm at 1 time and remember to keep it properly so I won't lose it :P

Random update on what's up: After using up the products that I use now (shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body wash, facial wash etc.), hopefully I can switch to a more natural alternatives (which is actually possible, did some research on it) and to reduce the amount of products that I use, some which I rarely use, just waiting for its expiry date *guilty*. The claim-to-be-"natural" shampoo that I'm using now didn't work for me. well, that will be another post. Excited to share my discoveries :D

3. Expensive =/= Good. Quality vs Quantity.
So true. I used to use "big brands" that claim to be natural but are actually not the "natural" that I was hoping for or supposed to be. I only came to that realization after reading more about labels on products etc. And really, do I need that many things? Just a few staples will do. Then again, what is my definition of staple? hmm. That's for me to think through :)

I'm NOT saying that YOU should NOT buy any products other than those natural ones OR ELSEE! LOL. Just sharing my experience on what worked for me and what didn't, what I'm currently into. Those who know me, I'm that no plastic bag-bring your own lunch container-reading the ingredient label girl though I don't know how on earth to pronounce them lol, as I'm just curious of what exactly I'm buying and using. It's a learning process for me :)

God bless you! ♥

It's still sem break! lost count of the days.

Back from EARC, had thanksgiving dinner 4.0 at Kai Chern's, learning to put watermark on my pics which I still don't know how, so used to using Windows Live Writer LOL. Meeting up some peeps later, which I'm excited :D not much of an update huh, wait for the pics to be up :) Anyways, I'm currently listening to: Try - Colbie Caillat.

Colbie looks good even without makeup, don't you think? so are the other ladies in the MV :) Liking this song cuz it has a powerful message to all ladies including myself. Exercise and be fit, eat healthy not to please anyone else but to treat your body well :) Jesus loves you ♥ Til next time.

1st day of Sem Break

Submitted my final essay assignment on Thursday
End of Year 2 sem 2
The start of sem break! :D

Excited for what's ahead, though my holiday seems rather chill now.

Coming up...
Performing as part of the University of Malaya's choir in Malaysia-China Chorus Exchange Concert in Dewan Filharmonik Petronas next Monday, then IFES' EARC! A few of us who finished our papers crashed FES office on Friday, just to help a bit here and there. Though we were assigned to do different task at different parts of the office, it was enjoyable and exciting preparing for the conference with the staffs. This pic was taken after I left at 3pm, without me, I know, and this pic was WA-ed to me by Vivian samore LOL. Still, a lovely pic worth sharing here :)

Vivi, Clem and Soon Sin
Happy faces :D
